I was so excited when my friend Mckell told me last week that she wanted to come visit me... that weekend! She flew in early on the 4th and since she was only staying for a couple of days, we didn't want to waste a minute!
I thought it would be easy and fun to try out the Metro for the first time, so we hopped on and rode down to Baltimore's Inner Harbor. I recommend it when you compare $3.50 for roundtrip fare with the price of gas, parking, and the headache of city traffic!
We headed over to the famous National Aquarium. For marine life lovers the Aquarium is amazing, but it's hard to enjoy everything when the place is so packed it's hard to maneuver from one place to the next. The highlight, though, was definitely the dolphin show.
Troy had to work for part of the day, so we shopped while we waited for him and a few other couples (and Mckell's date - we didn't want her to feel like a 9th wheel! :) to meet us for dinner and fireworks. We did learn one thing while we waited. People here don't have a problem expressing themselves. Case 1: Random man sits down near us and after a while interrupts us to tell Mckell she has "the most beautiful smile I have ever seen in my entire life". Case 2: Random lady walks up while we are sitting and asks me if I will buy her something because it is her "birfday". Both situations were slightly awkward.
Luckily, everybody made it to us right as the Cheesecake Factory buzzed me that our table was ready. Perfect timing. We had a nice, long dinner outside and caught a few fireworks before we all jumped on the Metro and headed back.
We love the 4th of July because it means the summer is halfway over and we are that much closer to being home!
The celebrators from top to bottom: Phil and Summer, Paula and Erik, Ashlee and Kipp, Troy and me

I'm making a comment! yey! haha. I had sooo much fun this weekend! Thanks for letting me come and showing me around. I wish i could have stayed longer. It went by so fast. I totally forgot about that lady who came up to you while we were waiting. Those moments were definitely a little akward. haha. good memories though. =)
It makes me laugh to think of you impersonating the "birfday" lady. Some people are unusual, that is for sure. Glad you got to see a little of the funstuff this place has to offer! That doesn't happen often with our boys being gone so much=). And feel free to take off the picture of Kipp and me. haha.
I actually think that's a really cute picture of you guys, Ashlee! Sorry, it's staying up :)
