Yesterday was Troy's 24th birthday- he's growing up so fast! :) We had plans for that night but none for the day so we slept in, had a birthday breakfast, and decided to do a little shopping to celebrate.
The day was going great until we pulled into our garage after shopping. Troy reached for his keys to open the door and realized he had left his house key on the other car's key chain. He looked at me sheepishly and said, "You brought your keys, right?". Nope. If I go somewhere with Troy, I don't bring what I think I don't need. Needless to say, I wasn't very happy, but I have since apologized for my initial reaction so there's no need for details here! After a couple of unsuccessful break-in attempts, we called a locksmith. Five minutes and 60 bucks later, we were rescued. That's right, it took the locksmith 5 minutes to get to our house, probably 5.25 seconds (just an estimate) to unlock our door, and he charged us a whopping 60 dollars! We couldn't believe it!
Troy had only two requests for his birthday: to go to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and to play Risk with the Chambers. We only had to wait for two and a half hours to be seated at the Cheesecake Factory, so it wasn't that bad. Luckily they didn't tell us it would be two hours and thirty-five minutes, otherwise we never would've stayed. We're not THAT crazy.
The cute couples at dinner.
Kipp and Ashlee.
The birthday boy and me.
Apparently Ashlee didn't really want Kipp in this picture...
After our three course dinner, we went back to Ashlee and Kipp's to play Risk. I must tell you that Troy's request to play this particular game was quite the birthday wish. This game can take hours to finish and for those of you who don't know, I have diagnosed myself with Game ADD. I just can't stay interested in a game that takes more than an hour to play. I was a poor participant (I'm sorry Ashlee!), but I really do blame it on my disorder. We had a great night with them though!
Rachelle (sister), Nathan (brother), and Heather (sister-in-law) came over tonight to eat cake and play games.
As you can tell by the looks on our faces, we're pretty enthusiastic Catchphrase players. Can't you feel the excitement?
Sadly for Troy, his birthday festivities have come to end and he can no longer start every sentence with "But it's my birthday!". Guess that'll have to wait until next year!

Well, I didn't want Kipp in the picture after he looked stoned in the first one. He blames the 20 minutes of flash he had to stare at before the picture was taken... hahaha. It was a fun night, and the 2 hours and 35 minutes wait flew by! It was all worth it to see a smile on the birthday boy's face... oh yeah, and the bread dipped in ranch=). Thanks for being born, Troy!! And thanks for inviting us to celebrate. P.S. Amy and I get to pick the next game we play=).
I used to play risk all the time w my brothers! I agree w Troy that its an awesome game. But I don't think I have ever won:( Looks like you guys had so much fun! I had to wait that long at cheesecake too but its worth it for sure.
Fun night. I can't believe you waited that long at the cheesecake factory. That's insane. He must really like their food! Please eat at Cafe Rio for me. I love that place. I wish I had family in UT (well, Braden and Amanda are temporarily there) so I could visit more and eat there more. Mmmmmm. Troy should update his gaming to one of the newer strategy games, like Ticket to Ride or something.
Hey guys! I found your comment on my blog and decided to check yours out. This post had me LOL! Happy be-lated bday Troy! Our little Michael's is on the 10th. 3 already! Well I'll keep checking your site to see how you two are doing. Till next time! ALITA
Hey, I saw your comment on Rebecca's site about games. If you're looking for a new one try the TTR Switzerland. It works as an expansion for either the U.S. or the Europe version and is designed for only 2-3 players with some cool twists. The Catan series is cool but can be pretty contentious between spouses! We've recently added Carcassone and Alhambra to our collection and enjoy both, but I think Alhambra is great for 3-5 players.
Amy-
It was so good to hear from you via my blog. I have thought about you so much over the past few years, since leaving Mays Pond. I was so excited to be able to get on your blog and get a glimpse of your life as a married lady. So where are you living - you said you bought your first house!?! Jay read along with me...we were insanely jealous of your Hawaii trip. Jay had to go to BYU-Hawaii for work about a year and one half ago, so we have made it a goal to go back together someday, but as you can see we now have another baby, so I guess it won't be anytime soon. I am so glad to know you are doing so well. I love you! You are so awesome! Keep in touch - now I know where to find you in this vast universe of cyberspace.
