Hawaii

In January, Troy and I packed our bags and said aloha (goodbye) to the cold in Utah and aloha (hello) to the beaches of Oahu. We had a great time going again with my parents, my sister, her friend, my brother, his wife, and her brother. It was a much needed break from school and freezing temperatures. Not only that, but we were there over our two year anniversary (January 21), so it was the perfect place to celebrate.

This is pretty much what we looked like celebrating and for a lot of the vacation! As you can tell, it was pretty relaxing.

There are three man made lagoons where we go, each one with it's own resort. They are great for swimming and snorkeling because the water is calm. We all had fun looking at the tropical fish and seeing the turtle that feeds in one of them. Here's a picture of our lagoon.

Troy's favorite part of the vacation last year was going to the North Shore and swimming in the huge waves that they are famous for. His only regret was not having a boogie board to ride the waves with, so this year he just had to buy one. Here's my excited husband getting ready to ride.

It is so fun to float on top of a huge wave, but it is not fun to get caught when it breaks. Trust me, I got pummeled a few times and had to get out at one point before I choked to death on saltwater.

Here he is riding it. This wave is pretty weak, but they got a lot bigger than that.

Troy had so much fun, in fact, that he didn't even notice that he broke a rib while doing this. We don't actually know if he really broke a rib, but he definitely bruised one. And he doesn't even know how, so he must've been too excited with boogie boarding to notice how much the waves and board were beating him up. The poor guy could barely get into a car or lift himself out of bed without severe pain for a couple of weeks. He's all better now, though.

Here are a couple more pictures of us.

We had fun, so thanks mom and dad for inviting us!

Thats so funny about his rib being broken and not knowing it. and I'm jealous of that pic of your husband sunbathing! when we went to Hawaii I wanted to lay out and relax and my husband refused cause it was too boring. And all he wanted to do was snorkel and it made me sick. Next Hawaii trip for sure with other couples:)
