Troy & Amy

Troy and I are living in UT and going to school. We just bought our first home in November and we are loving it! But to give a little background, I thought I'd reminisce a little and tell you how Troy and I met...

We met at our stake's youth conference in the summer of 2002. Troy had just graduated from high school and, well, I was still in it. Troy decided to go since it'd be his last big activity in the youth program at church, so he convinced his buddies to go with him. It was a pioneer trek and I didn't particularly feel like pulling a handcart 10 miles for three days without a shower or toilet, but I listened to my mom when she said I might miss out on something good and I went. She was right.
We were all placed in small families when we got to our trek starting point and Troy and I were placed in the same one. So yes, technically we were brother and sister! To make a really long story short, Troy noticed this cute, younger girl (me, for those of you not paying attention!), but it took me a little longer to notice he was noticing. We got to know each other over those few days and started dating after the trek was over.

We dated up until he left for a mission to St. Petersburg, Russia in 2003. We wrote consistently for the first year of his mission and when he got back, the timing was right and everything fell back into place. We got married on January 21, 2006 in Seattle, WA and it has been wedded bliss ever since... for the most part anyway :)

Here's a picture of us on the trek 6 years ago. Yep, we really did have to dress like pioneers!

And here we are now.

Cute. I know.

I'm so happy to have you in the blogging world now! That picture of you guys on the trek cracked me up. Not because you guys are funny looking or anything, but just because you're so young! I was like, "Where's Amy?"!! I didn't even recognize you at first. You're doing great already with your first posts! I'm happy to have made the "Blogging Friends" list! Lets go work out tonight??

Amy, I'm so flattered you commented on my blog! I'm sure at some point, I was the older, cool teenager that you may have looked up to, but now the roles are reversed and you are the young, hip girl with freedom that I envy. :) You two seem to be enjoying this time you have together! It sure is missed when it ceases for 20-30 years...or maybe 40? I didn't know you met on Trek, that is so awesome.

I'll add you to my list of blogs I check in with! Can't wait for more updates...so wishing I were in Hawaii! I need a vacation!
