I have always daydreamed about going to school with Troy- holding hands on campus, hugging, and kissing in between the bookshelves at the BYU library. Okay, so maybe I haven't really, but it would be nice to at least carpool or go to the same place every morning! With that said, Troy just finished up another transfer application to BYU 2 weeks ago. At work yesterday, I decided to check its status. This is what I found.
That's right, Troy got in to BYU! After 2 years of trying, BYU finally realized how mistaken they were for not accepting my husband sooner! Troy has been going to UVSC, or UVU I should say, for the last couple of years while I have been attending BYU. I will graduate at the end of the year and can say that my experience there has been pretty neutral. Yes, BYU is a great school and I'm grateful I've been able to go there, but going to school with 30,000+ overachievers (I know that is a huge generalization, so please don't take offense to it) can be exhausting!
Thus, the question: should he stay or should he go?
Troy really likes UVU. The classes are small and the workload is fair, but UVU's out of state tuition has been ridiculous. The tuition is much cheaper at BYU, but the classes are big and the workload is heavy. If cost was the sole basis for a decision, it would be a no brainer. But it's not... anymore. Troy will be gaining residency after this semester which means that both schools will be about the same. So if the cost of tuition isn't a reason to transfer anymore, what is? Would it look better if Troy graduated from BYU since he will be trying to get in to dental school or would it just be more competitive? Would Troy be able to choose a better major at BYU than at UVU? Would he do better at UVU or vice versa? Would he regret his decision and end up hating BYU if he did decide to transfer? What's going to be best for him? Does anyone know?!
This is our dilemma. Wish us luck.

To Go or Not to Go... That is the Question.

Go to UVSC!! Then if Kipp goes there when we get back, Troy and Kipp can go to school together (but not hold hands and kiss in the library or anything). Just kidding, that's a decision only you and Troy can make=). Good luck and Congrats, Troy, and getting accepted!!
I meant "on getting accepted" not "and getting accepted". I think Kipp was talking to me and I typed "and".
Congrats Troy, thats a great achievement! I completely understand the concern though, we are struggling with that too, if Braden should apply after next year or not?? Who knows, but whatever you do, you'll do great!
This is a true dilema - one that will probably effect the rest of your lives!!! Scary isn't it ;) The wonderful things about it is that #1 it's and option. And #2 the RIGHT answer is already known by God. I'm sure you guys have been praying about it, and that's my 2 cents. After you weigh out the options, he'll have the best advice of all. I just love that :) Good luck and keep us posted!!!
I just happened to be passing by and thought I would leave a comment. My husband and I both are 1st year dental students, and there is a guy in our class who graduated from UVSC and had no problem. He even got into a Texas school as a non-resident, which is hard to do. Good luck!
