We're Back

I figure it's about time to come back from my blogging hiatus because I'm sure you are all sick of seeing "Call Me Nerdy..." every time you visit. I know I am!

Troy and I have been home in Utah for over 2 weeks now. If you can believe it, we left Maryland on a Tuesday morning and, after 2100 miles of driving, rolled in late the next night. The van Belle's don't mess around. It is so good to be home and now that we are back, we've been busy doing all the "summer" things we don't have time for while we're away.

One thing we have finally gotten into is bike riding. And by finally I mean that it's something we've wanted to do together for a while now, but have never gotten around to actually buying the things necessary to go biking.... like bikes...and stuff. This summer we vowed to start our new hobby right away, so a couple of days after we got home we bought our bikes, bike rack, helmets, pump, and odometer. Besides having my first biking accident earlier this week, we've had fun riding around town, in the country, and on the paved trails up and down Provo Canyon.

Oh, you're wondering about my crash? Well, let's just say I learned a lesson I already knew: don't wear flip-flops when riding bikes. To make a long story short, my foot slipped on the pedal and caught the wheel, which sent me flying over my handle bars onto the pavement. Good thing I was wearing a helmet, unlike practically every other person in Utah. It was a little scary and there were a few tears, but other than a slight limp due to an injured big toe, an asphalt burned pinky, sore shoulder, bruised hip bone, and a few cuts and scrapes, I'm fine! We'll be back on our bikes in no time!

What a fun thing to enjoy together. That sounds like quite a fall. It just phases us more when we aren't little kids, huh!?

Brian will be thrilled that you guys joined the ranks! More bikers in the family :) I've got 4 more weeks before I can start exercizing and he's already trying to sign me up for the STP next year! Looks like you two are finding some great sites in your travels. Awesome.
