Utah State Fair

We thought it would be fun to head up to Salt Lake again this year for the Utah State Fair. It's one of those rare times of the year where you feel justified in eating anything and everything in its deep-fried form. For some reason, we didn't indulge as much as we did last year (if you can remember we had corn dogs and then shared a funnel cake and an elephant ear with our friends), but a foot-long corn dog and french fries seemed to satisfy us!

We went with Kent, Kate, and Afton. First, we visited the cattle.

We couldn't help but notice that this one had sadly succumbed to the pressures of cow pageantry. I guess some cows take it to the extreme in order to look good during the swimsuit portion.

And this one had absolutely no inhibitions. Troy just had to get a picture of it.

We did a little rodeo-ing. I don't think I ever realized how hardcore some people are about the rodeo. It's almost as entertaining to watch the crowd as it is to watch the cowboys.

I'm pretty sure I don't understand the desire to be thrown around by a madly bucking horse.

We walked around a little more after the rodeo and on our way out, we visited the pigs.

The little piglets were so cute, but I'm glad we ate our yummy corn dogs before we stopped here. Otherwise, the guilt may have ruined our dinner plans.

The fair is always a good time. Until next year, fair food!

Wow, that is the skinniest cow ever. And wow, that is the biggest pee stream ever. And wow, those piggies are adorable. And wow, I can't believe you ate them.

What is it about being with the Harts that encourages overeating?:)

The rodeo looked like fun too.We love rodeos almost as much as demolition derbies!
