I need advice. I'm looking for something I can use to carry Jovie in around the house, since no mother can hold their baby all day (I know I can't!). I feel guilty putting her in her bouncy chair every time I need two hands to do something, but I also need to be able to get things done at home. She enjoys being carried around in a way that she can see things, so....which is a better, a baby bjorn or a sling? Which one will a baby like for longer and which one will get more use in the long run? What kind of a product did you like for carrying around your baby and where did you find it? I would love your insights!

First-- I can't get over that hair! She is seriously a beautiful newborn.
I used a Baby Bjorn with Kyle. I wore it around the house, grocery shopping, in the airport and on walks. He really liked it because he could face outward and see and when he was really small he could lay against me and fall asleep. I got mine at a second hand children's store for no more than $35 (can't remember original price). Eventually his thighs got too fat and he was hurting my back, but I definitely felt like I got my money worth.
Never tried a sling. Looks too hippiesh for me! haha Maybe with this next kid I'll find my inner hippie and try one.
Amy, I borrowed all sorts of carrying devices from friends and family before I finally bought a Moby Wrap. Definitely give this a try! It's a long piece of stratchy fabric that you can wrap TONS of different ways around your body. Im sure you've seen them. Anyways, its the best, most comfortable way to carry your baby. When their sleeping they can be laying down and covered, when there awake they can be upright looking out or facing in. Its soft and has lots of give room. There is even a way to wrap it and nurse at the same time. Its great! Good luck with your hunt, you'll find the one that works best for you and Jovie!
I used a bjorn, but I am looking at slings and wraps for the reasons your friend Amanda said. They can sleep in them and they can be wrapped in a way so they can see. You can try our bjorn if you want to see if you like it.
I would say it depends on your baby. If she likes to be cuddled up, then a Moby for sure. There are a lot of different ways to wrap, but you can't use the sitting-up wraps until they can hold their head up fairly well. The only problem with those is that they're a little inconvenient when going out and about. I would say a Moby is better if you're going to be carrying your baby for a long time somewhere, because it distributes the weight better, but for grocery shopping or quick trips you would want a carrier. The Moby's are really long and are hard to put on in a parking lot because it's not as easy to slap on and they touch the ground while your getting it all wrapped around yourself. I have both and I use both for different things.
Just remember that when you're carrying the baby in front of you, it's hard to get much done. I got both a carrier and Moby thinking I could strap 'em on and start cooking and cleaning away, but it's not that easy. They're more convenient for going out. If you're just hanging out around the house or letting your baby sleep, though, Moby's are fun.
amy!! i just saw your blog post from a week ago.. yo may not need the advice anymore, but here is mine: whatever you get you will probably like!!.. BUT I used a sling and LOVED it! BUT you have to make sure it fits you right. you have to get the right size, so it doesn't hang down past your belly button, other wise your back will hurt. i carried coop in his laying down for abut 3 or so months... and then started sitting him up in and he LOVED it! he can sit on my hip now with it around him, but i hardly use it anymore... BUT LOVED it and will totally use it with my next kid. mine is from a boutique in IF and its HIP2BEBABY brand. i got a fleece one because it wics moisture away and they and you don't get as hot.... my sling wasn't "hippyish" looking, like someone said :) ha ha that's funny. it was really cute. i have a picture of it on my blog from one of my july posts :) anyway, i now would use a baby bjorn with him being bigger and because more than just YOU can use it... or a MEI TAI. you can use this for like 2 or 3 years with your kid. i tried this with coop too, but he liked laying down better, so i got the sling. maybe if you can try both, and see which one she likes better, that would help. you are welcome to borrow mine "somehow" :) to see if you want to buy one. let me know! sorry that was SOOO long!
sorry this is a month old but in case you didnt buy anything yet i have an extra baby bjorn knockoff if you want it. i use my bjorn all the time! He loves when i vaccum
I'm hooked on my Moby Wrap! Best. Thing. Ever.
